Mechanical lanyard adjuster with a release lever for fast length changes.
The ART Positioner is a mechanical adjuster for positioning lanyards and fliplines. It holds your lanyard length under load and has a release lever that lets you pay out rope smoothly when you need more length.
On a removal climb you are constantly changing lanyard length around the stem. The Positioner lets you pull slack through to shorten, then holds firm when you lean back. When you need to lengthen, pull the release lever and the rope feeds out under control instead of all at once.
That smooth release is the main reason climbers pick a mechanical adjuster over a hitch. It also stays consistent in wet or cold conditions where a friction hitch can grab differently. Set it up on a lanyard rope the device is rated for, and pair it with a good locking carabiner at the saddle.
Read the manufacturer's instructions for this device and confirm the rope diameter and construction you climb on falls inside its approved range. A device that grips well on one rope can slip or bind on another, so test it low and slow on new rope before you trust it at height.
Inspect the cam teeth, springs, side plates, and attachment points before every climb, and keep the device free of sap and grit. Life-support gear must meet the applicable standard (ANSI Z133 and the manufacturer's instructions), be inspected before every climb, and be used only by trained climbers. Never improvise a configuration the maker does not show. Compare other options in rope grabs.
