SRS Devices & Rope Wrenches
SRS devices let you work a stationary rope with control. The rope wrench family, including the ISC Rope Wrench and the Notch Flow, adds friction above a hitch so you can descend and move through the canopy smoothly.

Buying guide
How rope wrenches fit in
A rope wrench rides above your hitch on a short tether and bends the rope through a few contact points, adding friction so the hitch does not have to do all the work. Adjustable wrenches let you tune friction for rope diameter, temperature and how heavy you are with tools. They work with a tether and a hitch, not instead of one.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for compatible ropes, hitches and tethers, inspect wear points before every climb, and learn SRS from a qualified trainer.
Picking a setup
Start by deciding how you want to climb. A rope wrench with a hitch is light and familiar to MRS climbers, and it suits climbers who want fine control. A tether choice matters too: rigid and semi-rigid tethers like the Notch Fusion keep the wrench aligned and help it tend itself. Consider how often you change between ropes of different diameters, and whether you want adjustable friction for different weather and rope conditions.
Common questions
Does a rope wrench replace my hitch?
No. A rope wrench adds friction above a hitch or approved device. You still need the hitch or device as part of the life-support system.
