ClimbingPruningBucketPro grade

The Husqvarna T542iXP is a battery-powered top-handle chainsaw built for arborists working in the tree. Sold as a tool only, it runs on Husqvarna's 36V platform and gives climbers a quiet, instant-start saw with no fuel to carry.

Why climbers like it

A battery top-handle removes two daily annoyances in the tree: pull-starting a saw on a lanyard and breathing exhaust while you prune. The T542iXP starts with the trigger and stops when you let go, which also makes it quieter and easier to communicate with the ground crew.

It is a working saw for pruning, crown reduction and piecing out smaller wood on removals. Many climbers carry a spare battery on the saddle or send one up on a tag line.

On a bucket truck the T542iXP is just as useful, letting the operator make quick pruning cuts without a cord to pull. Pair it with a chain made for top-handle saws and a bar length you can control with confidence. Many crews keep two or three charged batteries per climber for a full day of pruning.

Safety and care

Top-handle saws are designed for trained arborists working in trees. Use a two-handed grip whenever possible, tether the saw with a chainsaw lanyard, and follow ANSI Z133 and Husqvarna's instructions. Never treat the quiet motor as a reason to relax chain safety.

Keep the chain sharp and tensioned, check bar oil each battery swap, and clean the motor vents. Batteries and charger are sold separately. See more battery-powered equipment.
