GroundMaintenance

The Husqvarna 520iLX is a straight-shaft battery string trimmer from Husqvarna's professional range, sold here as a bare tool. It runs on the same battery platform as Husqvarna's battery saws and blowers, so crews can share packs across tools.

Why a battery trimmer on a tree crew

Trimmers do a lot of small jobs around tree work: clearing around a stump before grinding, knocking back brush to get the chipper in, and cleaning up edges at the end of a job. A battery trimmer handles that without hauling mixed fuel, and it starts with a trigger rather than a cord.

Lower noise also helps when you start early in a neighborhood or work near customers. The straight shaft gives better reach under hedges and along fence lines than a curved shaft.

Battery trimmers also need less routine care than gas models, with no carburetor, spark plug or fuel filter to service. Swap trimmer line as needed and keep spare line in the truck.

Batteries and care

This listing is the bare tool, so you need a compatible Husqvarna battery and charger. If your crew already runs Husqvarna battery saws or blowers, you can share packs. Check runtime against the battery you pair it with.

Wear eye and hearing protection, keep bystanders clear of flying debris, and inspect the guard and head before use. Clean grass and sap off the head and vents after each day. See more battery-powered equipment.

Store batteries indoors in cold weather and charge them before they run completely flat to get the longest service life from each pack.
