A 16 oz throw weight with line, ready to set climbing and rigging lines.
This 16 oz throw weight kit puts a throw weight and throw line together so you can start setting lines right away. The 16 oz size is the heavier choice for dense, leafy canopies and wet conditions, where a lighter weight hangs up instead of coming back down.
Throw weights range roughly from 8 oz to 16 oz. Lighter weights fly higher with less effort and pull thin line easily, but they can hang up and refuse to come down through dense foliage. Heavier weights punch through leaves and drop back to the ground better, but take more effort to throw high and can be harder on the tree and anyone nearby.

Clear the drop zone before every throw and call it out. Never stand under the weight's path, and keep traffic and bystanders well back. Throw line and weights are for setting lines only, not for life support or lifting.
Flake the line into a cube or bag so it feeds without knots. Check the line for nicks and the weight for a worn ring or torn cover, and replace either if damaged. Inspect your tie-in point from the ground before climbing.
If you set lines often, a second weight and a throw cube let you keep one line ready while the other is in the tree.
