SafetyClimbingGround

The Petzl Vizen Mesh is a mesh face shield made for the 2019 and later Vertex and Strato helmets. It covers the face against chips and sawdust while letting air through, so it stays clear in the heat and on hard climbs.

The Vertex and Strato are common in tree care, and the Vizen Mesh gives them the face protection saw work demands. Mesh breathes, so it does not fog the way a clear shield can when you are working hard.

It covers more of the face than a small eye shield, which helps when you are bucking, limbing or cutting close above your head.

Mesh visors are a common choice for climbers because they stay clear when you are working hard. Keep a spare shield in the truck, since a bent or torn screen is hard to see through and needs replacing. Flip the shield up for climbing and rigging if you want a clear view, then bring it down before you start the saw.

Fitting and care

Make sure your helmet is a 2019 or later Vertex or Strato before ordering, since older versions use a different mount. Check that the shield clicks in on both sides and pivots smoothly.

Rinse sap and dust off with water and mild soap, let it dry, and replace it once it is bent, torn or hard to see through. A visor adds protection from chips and debris but does not replace safety glasses, so wear both. More options are in our eye protection range.
