Safety

The Kask Super Plasma visor mounts to the front of the Kask Super Plasma helmet to shield your eyes and face from chips, sawdust and twigs. It flips up when you do not need it and drops into place when the saw starts.

Why a helmet visor helps

Running a saw overhead sends a steady stream of chips at your face, and chipper and grinder work throws debris too. A visor mounted to the helmet stays with you as you move, flips up to read a cut or talk to the crew, and comes back down without hunting for glasses in a pocket.

Check the listing for which visor style this is and that it fits your helmet version, then compare it with the other eye protection we carry.

Grit and sawdust are not the only hazard. Twigs and small branches snap back at your face when you push through the canopy or drop a limb, and a visor takes that hit instead of your eyes. On a long day of trimming, being able to flip the visor down without stopping is what makes people actually use it. Keep a spare in the truck, since a badly scratched visor is hard to see through in low light.

Use, care and limits

Many climbers wear safety glasses under the visor, since a flipped-up visor protects nothing. Check the markings on the visor and your employer's rules to confirm it meets the eye protection standard required for your work.

Clean it with water and a soft cloth, not a dry rag, which scratches the surface. Replace the visor if it is cracked, deeply scratched or no longer stays in position. Inspect the helmet and its mounts at the same time, and follow ANSI Z133 and Kask's instructions.
