Petzl Climbing Rope: Control 12.5 mm

The Petzl Control is a 12.5 mm Petzl climbing rope made for tree work and designed to run in Petzl's mechanical devices such as the ZigZag. Climbers who buy Petzl ropes usually want that matched, predictable behavior.

Why a matched rope matters

Mechanical friction devices are sensitive to rope diameter and cover. A rope designed alongside the device gives you smoother descent and more predictable grab. That is the main reason climbers running a ZigZag or a similar device choose the Control.

It works on a moving-rope system or on a static line for SRT, depending on the devices and approvals in your kit.

Petzl ropes have a reputation for consistent diameter and cover, which matters with mechanical devices. A rope that swells or fuzzes up can change how much friction a device gives, so a stable line keeps your descent smooth from the first climb to the last.

Care and safety

Keep it in a rope bag, away from sun, chemicals, fuel and bar oil. Retire it when inspection finds cover damage, core exposure, glazing or stiff sections.
