A firm, smooth 16-strand climbing line for hitch climbers on moving rope.
The Teufelberger rope called Ultra-Vee is a 16-strand climbing line with a smooth cover and a firm hand that holds up to daily hitch climbing. It suits climbers who want a predictable line for moving-rope work.
Ultra-Vee is a fiber rope built for climbers who prefer a firm line. A firm cover keeps friction hitches consistent from the first climb to the hundredth, and it does not flatten out as quickly through a friction saver or a lanyard adjuster.
It runs well over a cambium saver or through a rigging ring and is easy to throw over a limb when you advance your line.
Climbers who already like Teufelberger fiber rope often pick Ultra-Vee for a production line because it keeps a consistent feel from new to well-used, which makes your hitch behave the same on Friday as it did on Monday.
Check that your hitch cord, friction device and pulleys are approved for the diameter. Try your setup low to the ground before climbing on a new line. Life-support gear has to meet the applicable standard (ANSI Z133 and the manufacturer's instructions), be inspected before every use, and be used by trained climbers.
Store it in a bag, out of the sun, away from fuel. Retire it if you find cover damage, core exposure, glazing or hard spots.
Rotate the ends now and then so wear is spread out, and keep notes on its age and use so you know when it is due for a closer look.

It is a predictable line for moving-rope climbing, which makes it a reasonable choice for climbers in training, under supervision.
16-strand lines tend to be firmer with a coarser cover, while 24-strand lines are usually smoother and rounder. Both can be excellent; it comes down to your hitch and device.
