A double pulley with built-in progress capture for compact haul systems.
The Petzl JAG TRAXION is a double pulley with built-in progress capture, so a haul system holds the load each time you stop pulling. It is the heart of Petzl's JAG system kits, and tree crews use it to tension lines and pull tops with a compact, efficient 4:1.
Pair the JAG TRAXION with a second double pulley and you have a compact 4:1 that grabs and holds every pull. That makes it handy for tensioning a speed line, pulling a lean out of a tree before the cut, or lifting a stuck piece off a structure. Because it holds on its own, you can reset without needing a second person on a prusik.
See our other mechanical advantage gear for kits and accessories.
Efficient ball-bearing sheaves mean less of your pull is lost to friction, which matters when you need to move something heavy with a small crew.
Mechanical advantage makes it easy to exceed what an anchor, sling, or tree can handle, so plan the forces before you pull and stay well inside the marked rating.
Before each use, check the cam for free movement and clean teeth, spin the sheaves, and look for cracks, wear, or deformation. Rinse off grit and sap. Rescue and life-support use must follow the maker's instructions, ANSI Z133, and proper training.
Store it dry and away from chemicals, and retire it after a drop from height or any damage you cannot rule out.

It works best as part of a system with a second pulley. Petzl sells complete JAG system kits.
Used correctly, no. Avoid shock loading it and keep the cam clean.
