DMM Nomad Replacement Lanyard

The DMM Nomad replacement lanyard is the rope section for the DMM Nomad lanyard kit, so you can put fresh rope in service without replacing the adjuster and hardware. Lanyard rope wears much faster than the metal parts around it.

Why replace just the rope

A positioning lanyard gets wrapped around rough bark, run through an adjuster all day, and it lives close to the saw. The rope is the part that suffers. When the cover is fuzzy, glazed, or cut, the rope has to go, but the hardware is often fine.

Buying the replacement lanyard rope keeps the setup you know on your saddle. It also makes it easier to keep a spare in the truck so damage does not end the day.

When you rebuild, look at how the lanyard has been wearing. If the damage is always in the same spot, it may point to how you are wrapping the stem or where the saw is sitting while you cut.

Fit and inspection

Confirm the length and end terminations match your kit before ordering, and inspect the adjuster and connectors when you swap the rope. Other options are in lanyard kits.

Inspect the lanyard before every climb and retire it after any saw contact or shock load. Life-support gear must meet the applicable standard, follow ANSI Z133 and the manufacturer's instructions, and be inspected before every climb. Get trained before you rely on it.

Cut up and discard the old lanyard rope so it does not drift back into somebody's gear bag. Write the date of the swap in your gear log.
