GroundFelling

This Spencer logging tape refill is a 35 ft replacement blade for a Spencer logger's tape. When the old tape is kinked, torn, or worn unreadable, a refill gets your case back in service without buying a whole new tape.

Why crews keep a logger's tape

A logger's tape rides on the belt, hooks the end of a log, and rewinds on its own, so you can mark cut lengths for firewood, sawlogs, or a customer's chosen length without walking back to the truck. Spencer tapes are a long-time favorite for that job.

Blades take a beating from sawdust, sap, and getting stepped on. A refill is the fix. See other measuring and cruising tools in our forestry tools.

Loggers and firewood crews use a tape to mark consistent lengths, and tree crews use it to measure stems for customers, cranes, and log buyers. A tape that rewinds smoothly saves a lot of walking.

Swapping the blade

Check that the refill matches your case model and length before you order. Follow Spencer's instructions to unwind the old blade and wind in the new one, and keep fingers clear of the spring.

Wipe sap off the blade now and then and let it rewind under control so the hook doesn't snap back.

Keep the case clean of sawdust and sap so the spring rewinds freely. If the case itself is cracked or the spring is broken, a refill won't fix it and you'll need a new tape. Store the tape off the ground at the end of the day.
