Black 10mm Beeline hitch cord with a sewn eye for your climbing hitch.
The Yale Beeline split tail is a 10mm length of black Beeline hitch cord with a sewn eye, made to tie the friction hitch on your climbing line. Beeline is a go-to hitch cord for many climbers because it grips well, runs smoothly and handles heat.
Your hitch is the piece of gear you touch most on every climb. A split tail with a sewn eye clips to the saddle carabiner and takes the place of a tied knot, which keeps the hitch short and easy to tend. Beeline holds a hitch firmly under load and releases without much fight, which makes descending smoother.
Black cord shows less dirt and pitch staining than lighter colors, but that also means it can hide wear, so give it a close look.
A sewn eye also removes one knot from your inspection list. You still check the stopper knot on the tail end every climb, but the carabiner end stays the same length and shape every time you rebuild the hitch.
10mm Beeline is commonly paired with climbing lines in the 11 to 13mm range, but grab varies with the rope's cover and age. Test any new tail on your line close to the ground and adjust the wraps until it works.
Before each climb, check for glazing, stiff spots, cuts and wear near the sewn eye, and retire it early. Use it within Yale's instructions and ANSI Z133 practice, and get trained on hitch climbing before relying on it. Shop other options in hitch cord and split tails.

It is a common pairing, but test it on your actual rope low to the ground and adjust the hitch before climbing.
