This combo pairs a DMM Pinto pulley with an 8mm Ocean Polyester prusik loop, giving you a ready-made pulley and hitch set. Climbers use it to tend a friction hitch, and ground crews use it to build quick mechanical advantage and haul systems.

How climbers and groundies use it

On a moving rope climbing system, a pulley clipped below the friction hitch lets you tend slack with one hand as you advance. The Pinto's side plates let you clip it onto a line without threading the rope end, which is handy when you are already tied in.

On the ground, a pulley with a prusik is the building block of a simple 3:1 for tensioning a rigging line or pulling a tree over. Keep a set in the bag and you can rig one in minutes. See more hitch cord and prusiks for other sizes.

Buying the pulley and prusik together saves matching parts piece by piece, and the combination is a common starting point for climbers moving from a basic hitch setup to a tended system.

Compatibility and inspection

An 8 mm prusik needs a host rope larger than itself to grip properly. Test the grip on your own rope before trusting it, since cover, diameter, and wear all change how a hitch holds.

Life-support gear must meet the applicable standard, follow ANSI Z133 and the manufacturer's instructions, be inspected before every climb, and be used only by trained climbers. Retire a prusik that is glazed, stiff, or fuzzy, and check the pulley's sheave and side plates for grooves or cracks.

Keep the prusik dry and out of chainsaw oil, which affects grip.
