Teufelberger anchor system for protecting the tie-in point and your climbing line.
The Teufelberger fimbCLIMB is an anchor system that protects the tree and your climbing line at the tie-in point, so rope runs through hardware instead of over bark. It comes from Teufelberger, whose climbing lines are used by tree crews around the world.
Every time a moving rope runs over bark, it picks up grit, builds heat and polishes the cambium. Putting hardware at the tie-in avoids that, keeps your rope cleaner and makes ascents and repositioning smoother. On trees you climb repeatedly, it also leaves less damage for the client to see.
Set the fimbCLIMB over a sound union, run your line as shown in Teufelberger's instructions and check that every connector is closed and loaded along its long axis before you leave the ground.
On trees you return to every year, protecting the anchor also leaves less visible wear on the bark, which matters to homeowners and to the long-term health of the tree. A good anchor setup is one of the cheapest ways to extend the life of an expensive climbing line.
Read Teufelberger's user information for the rope diameters and climbing systems it is rated for. This is life-support gear. Use it only within the manufacturer's instructions and ANSI Z133 practice, inspect it before every climb, and retire it when in doubt.
Teufelberger also publishes inspection guidance for its life-support products. Keep a copy with your gear records, and log the date the fimbCLIMB goes into service so retirement decisions are based on facts rather than guesswork.
Compare it with other options in our friction savers range to match your style of climbing.
