ClimbingMaintenance

This CT Quick Step replacement strap fits the Climbing Technology Quick Step foot ascender and keeps it seated on your boot. When the original strap is frayed or stretched, a new one restores a solid, secure fit.

When to replace the strap

The strap takes a beating from bark, spurs and boot buckles. Once it frays, stretches or the buckle slips, the ascender can shift on your boot and the rope will not feed cleanly.

Replacing the strap is cheaper than a new ascender and keeps it working the way it should. See more parts in foot ascenders and foot loops.

Swap the strap before it fails, not after. A strap that slips during a long ascent turns a quick climb into a frustrating one and can cause you to lose your footing on the rope.

Fit and inspection

Follow Climbing Technology's instructions to thread the strap, then adjust it so the ascender sits firmly over your boot. Try a few steps on a rope low to the ground.

Inspect the strap and the ascender cam before every climb. If the cam teeth are worn or the spring is weak, replace the ascender too.

Keep a spare strap in your climbing bag. It weighs almost nothing and can save a day if the original breaks on the job. Store the ascender and strap away from sun and heat when not in use.
