A static arborist climbing line from Courant in high-visibility yellow.
The Courant Rebel climbing rope is a low-stretch arborist line that suits single rope technique as well as moving rope climbing. The yellow version is easy to pick out in the tree and on the ground.
Static lines give less bounce on long SRS ascents, so more of each stroke turns into height. That is why low-stretch ropes like the Rebel have become common on crews that climb big trees on a single rope.
Before you run it in a mechanical device, confirm the device maker lists a compatible diameter and construction. Test the system low to the ground and set up a proper anchor and backup as trained.
Courant builds the Rebel for arborists who want a single line for most of their climbing. The yellow version is a practical choice on crews running several ropes, because it is easy to tell apart from rigging lines and other climbers' ropes on a busy job.
Keep your climbing line in a rope bag, away from chips, bar oil, fuel and long hours of sun. Never cut near it, and never use it to lower wood. A climbing line that has caught a rigging load is a rigging line from then on.
Life-support gear must meet ANSI Z133 requirements and the manufacturer's instructions, be inspected before every climb, and be used only by trained climbers. Retire the rope if you find cuts, glazing, chemical contact, core damage or a section that feels different from the rest. Compare more static climbing rope.
