The DMM Keanu trolley is a pulley built to run along a tensioned line, which makes it useful for speedlining brush and wood away from targets in tree work. It is designed to stay on the line while it moves.

How trolleys help in tree work

When you cannot drop wood or brush, a speedline lets you send pieces along a tensioned line to a landing zone away from roofs, gardens and fences. A trolley rides that line and carries the load. A good one runs smoothly so loads do not stall halfway, and stays on the line so loads do not come off at the wrong moment.

The Keanu is designed for tensioned line work, so it is a better choice for speedlines than a standard rigging pulley that was never meant to travel. See more rigging pulleys for other jobs.

Speedlines also save time on jobs where wood would otherwise be lowered piece by piece into a cramped drop zone, because the ground crew can work the landing while the climber keeps cutting.

Setup and safety

A speedline adds force to its anchors, so the anchor tree, the tensioning system and every component must be rated for the loads involved. Keep the landing zone clear and control the speed of loads with a tag or lowering line where needed.

Check the sheave turns freely and the side plates are not bent before each job. Plan speedlines with a qualified rigger and follow ANSI Z133 and the manufacturer's instructions.

Use a separate trolley for each load in a busy system so the ground crew can unclip and return them without holding up the climber.
