RiggingPro grade

The CMI aluminum rigging block in the 3/4 inch size is a full-function rigging block built lighter, for crews who rig often and want less weight to haul up the tree. It takes the common rigging rope sizes up to 3/4 inch.

Why choose an aluminum block

Every pound counts when you are carrying gear aloft and setting rigging points all day. An aluminum block gives you a proper rigging block, with a large sheave and a strong frame, at a weight that makes it easier to send up and reposition.

The 3/4 inch size covers the rope most crews use for daily rigging. For the biggest wood, a 1 inch block may be the better tool. See all our rigging blocks to compare.

A lighter block also makes it easier to reposition the rigging point as the removal comes down. Rather than leaving a heavy block where it is and rigging from a poor angle, the climber can move it to a better spot quickly.

Rating and inspection

Use the marked rating and remember the rigging point load can be close to twice the load on the line. Pair the block with slings, rope, and a lowering device in the same range, and keep the line running straight into the sheave.

Aluminum shows wear faster than steel, so inspect the sheave groove for grooving, the side plates for cracks, burrs, or bending, and the axle for play before each job. Retire the block after a severe shock load. Follow ANSI Z133 for all rigging.
