Use two hands whenever possible, keep the saw tied to your saddle with a proper saw lanyard, and start it in a safe position. Never use a top-handle saw on the ground as a general-purpose saw. A rear-handle saw is safer for ground work.

Wear a helmet with eye and hearing protection, gloves and appropriate leg protection as your employer requires. Be aware of where your lanyard and climbing line are in relation to the bar at all times. Get training before you take a top-handle saw up a tree.

Maintenance and parts
