DMM Revolver Rig Screw Gate

The DMM Revolver Rig is a screw gate carabiner with a built-in pulley wheel in the base, cutting rope friction in redirects and haul systems. It is a compact way to add a small pulley without carrying one.

How a pulley carabiner helps

The DMM Revolver line puts a small pulley wheel in the base of a carabiner. Rope running over that wheel sees less friction than it would over a plain carabiner, which makes redirects smoother, saves rope wear, and helps when you are building a small mechanical advantage system to tension a line or haul gear.

The Revolver Rig version uses a screw gate, which is simple, durable, and easy to inspect. Because the wheel is built in, you get some of the benefit of a pulley without carrying a separate one and a second carabiner.

Climbers often use one as a redirect on a long SRT line or for a quick haul system to bring up a saw or a pole tool. In rigging, it can help on light lines where you want rope to run cleanly.

Use, limits, and safety

A pulley carabiner is not a substitute for a full rigging block or a proper pulley when the loads are big. Check DMM's ratings for the wheel and the carabiner and stay well inside them. Compare other options in screw gate carabiners.

Screw gates must be screwed fully closed before loading, and many tree care employers require auto-locking connectors for life support. Follow your employer's policy and the applicable standard. Check that the wheel spins freely and that the gate closes and locks fully. Life-support gear must meet the applicable standard, follow ANSI Z133 and the manufacturer's instructions, and be inspected before every climb. Get trained before you rely on it.
