The All Gear Branch Saver is a synthetic cable system for supplemental support of weak limbs and codominant stems, an alternative to steel cable for many cabling jobs. It is aimed at arborists who want a lighter, faster install that works with the tree's natural movement.

Where synthetic cabling fits

Cabling limits how far a weak union or heavy limb can move in a storm. Synthetic systems like the Branch Saver wrap the stems instead of relying only on drilled hardware, are light enough to carry up in a single trip, and let the tree sway rather than holding it rigid. Many arborists reach for synthetic systems on small to medium cabling jobs and on trees where drilling is not desirable.

Choosing the right system and install location is an assessment call. The general practice is to place cables well up from the weak union, but follow the manufacturer's instructions and ANSI A300 guidance for the specific tree.

Synthetic systems also suit work where weight and access matter. A climber can carry the whole kit up in one trip, install it without heavy tools, and adjust it in place. That makes it practical on large trees with several stems to support, where hauling steel cable, drills and hardware would add a lot of time and effort to the job.

Install and inspection

Size the system to the stems you are supporting and follow All Gear's instructions for set-up and tension. Schedule regular inspections, since synthetic cable can be damaged by abrasion, UV and wildlife. Related hardware and rope are in rigging rope.

Cabling is supplemental support, not a guarantee that a limb will not fail. Work aloft only with trained crew, following ANSI Z133.
