Yale Polydyne 3/4 in Rigging Rope

Yale Polydyne rigging rope in 3/4 in is a heavy rigging line for lowering big wood on removals. It is sized for rigging blocks and lowering devices that take large rope, and suits crews regularly taking down large trees in pieces.

Why go up to 3/4 in

On big removals, wood gets heavy fast. A 3/4 in rigging line gives the strength and durability for lowering large leaders and trunk sections, and its size grips well on a port-a-wrap or capstan lowering device. Match it with blocks and slings rated for 3/4 in rope and the loads you are working with.

Bigger rope is heavier to carry and set, so many crews keep it for the big jobs and run 1/2 or 5/8 for everyday rigging.

Larger rope also gives the ground crew more to grip and control when they are letting wood run on a lowering device.

Rigging safely

Dynamic loads from dropped or swung wood can be several times the piece's weight. Plan your cuts, keep pieces within what your rope, hardware and tree can handle, and let the rope run a little to soften the catch. Keep the ground crew clear of the drop zone and the running line.
