RiggingPro grade

The ISC compact rigging pulley is a small rigging block for pruning and light removal work, where a full-size block is more than you need. This version has a grey frame and a grey sheave, and it hangs from a sling at the rigging point like a larger block.

Where a compact block fits

Plenty of rigging is not heavy rigging: lowering limbs over a roof on a pruning job, taking small tops in pieces, or controlling brush over a fence. A compact rigging pulley handles these jobs with less weight than a full-size block, so you are more likely to rig the piece than to drop it and hope.

Step up to a medium or large block when the wood gets bigger. Compare sizes in our rigging blocks.

A compact block is light enough to send up with the climber at the start of the job and leave on the saddle until needed. That makes it easier to rig a limb over a target rather than take the chance of a free drop.

Ratings and checks

Check the marked rope range and rating, and remember the rigging point sees close to double the line load. Keep shock loads modest by limiting drop distance and letting the ground worker run the friction smoothly.

Before each use, spin the sheave, check the side plates and frame for cracks or bends, and look for grooves in the sheave. Clean off sap and grit. Rigging should follow ANSI Z133 and the maker's instructions.

Store it clean and dry, and retire it if it has been shock loaded beyond its rating or dropped onto a hard surface from height.
