The Weaver nylon basket for cable gives you a place to carry a coil of support cable and hardware into the tree. Having everything in one basket at the work position saves trips and keeps parts from dropping to the ground.

Why a basket helps on cabling jobs

A cabling install means a coil of cable, grips, dead-ends, hardware, a drill and bits, all needed at the same spot high in the crown. Stuffing hardware in pockets is how parts end up in the lawn. A basket hung near the work position holds the coil and small parts so you can reach them without juggling.

Weaver has been making arborist gear for a long time, and this basket is made in tough nylon that stands up to cable ends and hardware better than a light bag.

Cable coils are springy and awkward, and cut strand ends are sharp. A basket with a stiff body holds the coil open so it does not unwind across your lap. Keep hand tools, such as the cable cutter and grips, in the basket too so you are not reaching for pockets while on rope.

Using it safely aloft

Hang the basket from a dedicated attachment point, not from your life-support system, and keep it below the weight the basket and attachment are rated to hold. Keep the work zone below clear in case anything drops, and send heavy items up on a separate line. Inspect the stitching and handles before each job.
