The DMM Pinto spacer is a small accessory for the DMM Pinto pulley that holds the carabiner in position so the pulley and hitch stay lined up. It is a low-cost part that makes a hitch tending setup sit more neatly.

Why a spacer helps

The Pinto is one of the most common hitch tending pulleys because it has two attachment holes and a compact sheave. With a carabiner clipped through, though, the parts can shift and rotate as you climb, letting the pulley turn sideways to the hitch.

A spacer keeps things where they belong. The carabiner holds its position, the pulley stays square to the rope and the hitch feeds more consistently. It is a small upgrade, but many climbers notice the difference when tending slack on a long ascent.

It is also a cheap part to keep in the gear bag. Spacers are small and easy to lose during a system change, and having a spare means you can rebuild your hitch setup the same way every time instead of making do. If you run more than one Pinto, one spacer per pulley keeps both systems consistent.

Fitting and checks

Fit the spacer as DMM describes and make sure it does not interfere with the carabiner gate closing and locking fully. Check the whole assembly before each climb for wear, cracks or any part that has shifted.

The spacer is not a load-bearing connector. It does not replace any part of your life-support system, which should be used under ANSI Z133 practice and the maker's instructions by trained climbers. Find pulleys in micro pulleys.
