ClimbingPro grade

The Teufelberger fimblSAVER is an adjustable friction saver that you size to the limb, so one tool covers a wide range of tie-ins. It protects the bark, cuts friction on your climbing line and can be retrieved from the ground when set up as instructed.

Why climbers like the fimblSAVER

A fixed friction saver only fits a narrow band of limb sizes. The fimblSAVER adjusts, so you can tie in on the limb that gives you the best anchor and still get a proper fit. Once set, the rope runs on the saver instead of the bark, which saves the tree and your rope.

Being retrievable from the ground, it saves the climb back up at the end of the day. Compare our other friction savers if you want a fixed or ring-to-ring style.

Climbers often pair it with a rope that runs smoothly through the rings, so check the rope compatibility in Teufelberger's guidance. Practice adjusting and retrieving it on a low limb before relying on it high in the tree, so the steps are second nature.

Setting and inspecting

Follow Teufelberger's instructions for adjustment, installation and retrieval, and confirm it is correctly set before weighting it. A friction saver is life-support gear: it must meet the applicable standard, be used within ANSI Z133 and be installed by a trained climber.

Before every climb, check the rope, terminations and rings for cuts, glazing and grooves. Retire it if any part is damaged. Store it clean, dry and away from fuel and bar oil.
